Story selection
Public value comes first.
AWE looks for consequential environmental questions, people doing meaningful work, interventions worth examining and claims that deserve follow-up. Visibility is not endorsement.
Evidence
Five records stay connected.
Claim → Action → Responsible actor → Evidence → Outcome. Sources are labelled by type, and confidence describes the support for a claim rather than the desirability of its subject.
What we know
Statements supported by the sources available at publication.
What we don’t know
Gaps, unresolved conflicts, unavailable records and questions that still require reporting.
Editorial workflow
From idea to public record.
Idea → Assigned → Researching → Evidence Review → Draft → Editorial Review → Scientific Review when required → Ready → Published → Updated.
The public charter
Twelve commitments.
01 · Show the source
Readers should be able to see where a consequential fact came from.
02 · Separate claim from evidence
A statement, an action and a measured outcome are different records.
03 · Name responsibility
Environmental action becomes clearer when institutional responsibility is visible.
04 · Say what we do not know
Missing, conflicting and uncertain evidence stays visible.
05 · Preserve the boundary
Dates, units, locations and reporting boundaries travel with a number.
06 · Do not confuse disclosure with performance
More reporting does not automatically mean a cleaner outcome.
07 · Use review proportionately
Technical health or causal claims may require specialist review; every community story does not pretend to be peer-reviewed.
08 · Label supplied material
Company, partner and community-provided evidence keeps its provenance.
09 · Keep commercial influence visible
Sponsored work is labelled and cannot silently alter an evidence assessment.
10 · Protect contributors
Consent and responsible handling guide submissions and community reporting.
11 · Record corrections
Material changes remain visible with dates and reasons.
12 · Follow what happens next
AWE returns to interventions and asks whether the promised result appeared.
