Your curiosity.
Your choices.

Last updated 4 November 2026. This notice describes AWE’s discovery homepage and its browser-local learning features. Other research or editorial services may have their own notices.

What stays on your device

Saved habits and starter shortlists, films, Shorts and learning cards, viewed-item preferences, private poll responses, curiosity reactions and mini-lesson results use your browser’s localStorage. There is no account or cross-device sync for these features. They are not public votes, verified actions or measured environmental impact.

Use My AWE on the homepage to export or clear this data. Clearing your browser’s site data also removes it. Shared devices may expose saved preferences to other people using the same browser.

The 50 Small Changes challenge

The public release offers browsing and device-local habit selection. Email registration and live participation services are not available yet. This release does not collect registration emails or send sign-in messages.

Video providers and posters

Official YouTube thumbnails load from YouTube-related image servers when catalogue cards enter view. This can reveal your IP address and basic browser information to the image provider. Video players do not load until you choose to load them. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed domain, which does not mean no data is collected. Loading a player connects to YouTube and its service providers. Ads, playback controls, captions, cookies or other storage may be supplied by YouTube under its own policies.

Selected Instagram Reels use a local AWE cover illustration until you choose to load the original Instagram embed. Loading it connects to Instagram/Meta, which may process request information, cookies or other storage and may require sign-in. AWE does not download or rehost the Reel. The original post and creator links remain available if embedding stops working. Instagram privacy information ↗

Editorial CMS and public questions

Authorised editors use a separate, authenticated Payload CMS. Account details, assignments and private editorial notes are excluded from the public content feed. Published pages can include attributed observations, sources and documented public-office responses following editorial review. Uploaded media is a public publishing asset: confidential material must not be uploaded there. Story submissions remain in the existing moderated Netlify Forms inbox; editors manually transfer suitable leads into CMS drafts. AWE does not automatically contact public offices or send WhatsApp messages.

AWE Match invitations

Match rounds, shortlists, plans and reflections stay in this browser. The AWE Daily seven-day tracker also stores only browser-local self-reported reflections. Opening the AWE Channel link goes to WhatsApp; the website cannot confirm that you followed the channel, and following does not create an AWE account or a personal messaging subscription. A reflection is a self-report, not verified impact. If you opt in to friend comparison, up to three selected habit identifiers are encoded in the invitation link fragment; anyone with that link can read them. Names, phone numbers, emails and private quiz answers are not included. Result cards and QR posters are generated on your device. Opening a WhatsApp invitation connects to WhatsApp; you choose the recipient and send it. Native app sharing and calendar downloads happen only when you select them. A calendar reminder is not an email subscription. Clear Match data on its page, or export and clear browser-local AWE data through My AWE.

Editorial forms

Story submissions, corrections, contributor requests and newsletter signups send the fields you choose to provide to Netlify Forms for AWE review. These submissions are not public. Newsletter signup is a request to receive updates; automatic delivery has not yet been enabled. Do not submit sensitive personal information. For access, correction or deletion requests, contact awe@aweindia.org.

Hosting and analytics

Netlify hosts the website and may process request metadata such as IP addresses, browser information and technical logs to deliver and secure the service. The new discovery homepage does not send your private polls or local progress to an AWE analytics endpoint. We do not claim that hosting or embedded providers are free of logging.

Your choices

You can browse without creating an account, decline to load an embedded video, open the original publisher instead, and clear local AWE preferences at any time. No precise location, payment data or contact list is requested by these features.
